Another monthly update from the World
Foundry comes along giving us the latest news on whats going on with
there developments. Read on...
1. Explorer 2260 Update.
This is what has been added (on the design and programming end of things) to Explorer 2260 in May.
- - 3D editor redesigned and reimplementation started with a focus changed
from full object creation to editing, texturing and zoning.
- - Server architecture altered, filesystem operations now handled by the
client unless client and server are not on the same machine.
- - Investigation into a port of the server core to linux underway (with a
view to allowing multiplayer games to be set up on linux boxes)
- - Development focus moved to implementation of the 3D engine using Warp3D.
- - Region specific time handling partially implemented.
- - Hyperspace calculations and Theory Of Hyperspace altered slightly
(involving the clearing of a small forest to provide the paper).
- - Graphical work will be increasing in June now that school studies are now
finished.
2. Maim & Mangle Update.
There was also several work on our internal developent tool, M3D editor and Terrain editor.
