Warp3D, the first hardware independent 3D driver system for the Amiga is finally available.
Finally, there is an easy way in which the powerful 3D graphics chips like Permedia2 can be used to their full. Before, programmers would have had to program the chip directly now, however, they may simple use Warp3D. This sort of thing has been widely available on other platforms for ages, and at last it is also available on the Amiga.
Currently, only the Virge chip is supported, however, Permedia2 support isn't that far away and 3dfx will also be supported when the board is released by VillageTronic.
This is a very important step forward and hopefully we will see programmers making use of it in the very near future.
