Virtual Ball Fighters is a new game in production buy
Italian developers, Hurricane Software. You may remember this name by the other
games which they have in production which includes Eat the Whistle & Escape
Towards the Unknown.
The game itself is in the Tetris mould, while not being exactly the same type of game it borrows a lot from this classic. You get marbles falling from the top of the screen in packs of 3, all of different colours, you aim is to place 3 or more of these marbles of the same colour either in a horizontal, vertical or diaginal line. Obviously, as in Tetris the basic skill of the game is to rotate this marbles so they are placed to your benefit.
However, this isn't just it though, as there is one thing that makes it a whole new ball game, the fact that its all against another player. The whole aim being to defeat them, as with other games of this type, you have to try and make sure there screen is filled with marbles before yours is. There are bounses that can help you on your way too including increase opponents marble speed, energy recovery, decrease you own marble speed and much more.
The player has a choice of charactors in the game all of which have their plus and minus points. There are a number of different play modes for the player to select from. They can either play against the computer or against another player, there will also be tournaments for the single player to participate in.
The game will feature support for GFX cards, allowing owners of these to play the game in a resolution of 640x512 in 16 million colours. AGA users will have to make do with 640x256 in 512 colours unless they have a PPC in which case they'll also be able to utlise the higher resolution. There will also be extensive sound via AHI, a five minute intro animation and much more.
The minimum specification for the game is an AGA/GFX card equiped machine with
at least an 030 or a PPC processor.
The game is set to be released on the Amiga & PC, as yet, no release date has been set.
