Tales of Tamer Update. |
|
You may remember this game from when I done a report on it sometime last year. Well, I'm happy to let you know that things are still moving along nicely and a release of sometime around November is looking likely.
For those of you out there that don't remember this game its probably of the kind that you haven't seen much of before. Going by first looks you may think that its just another strategy game, however, you couldn't be further from the truth, Tales of Tamer is the type of game that the Amiga has seen very little of in the past in that it is played over the internet in a play-by-email fashion. Basically, you take a turn, that information from that turn is then sent to the main server, it then computes the changes that everyone elses move makes and sends the information back to you. Its quite similar to the play-by-mail games that were very popular years ago except the the turnaround is obviously much quicker.
So, now we know what different about the games, whats it actually all about I hear you ask. Well, basically, you take over a realm in a world that is far away from that of your own. This world consists of the classic orks, elves, dwarfs and of course humans. It is your job to build up your realm, make it strong and wealthy and survive against your human opponents. Its all in here, building cities, building armies, keeping your citizens happy, trade with other races, investigate them and much, much more.
Some of the features that the game boasts are very nice. It will contain fully handpainted graphics (which have improved dramatically since last time, the language is the graphics on this page are still in German but this is because the English locale isn't completly finished yet), raytraced animation sequences, build-in online games, online chat-room, ftp-update and player-player mail, a very complex battle system and much, much more.
The game itself will be shipped on 2 CD's, one of which will carry the actual game and a second which will contain the CD music soundtrack for the game. To play the game you will require at least an 020 based Amiga with AGA, 4Mb Fast RAM and a CD-ROM drive, it is recommended that you have a 040/060 with GFX card, and 8Mb RAM, a fast modem and a 16-bit soundcard. The game is also being developed for the PC alongside the amiga version, both versions will be completly compatible with eachother so you can play games against your PC friends.
Like I said before, the game will hopefully be released sometime in November, there will hopefully be demo released before this time.
