NEX - The Dark Age.

NEX - The Dark Age is a new game in development buy a development team called Deflection. It is described by them as Bladerunner in 3D.

Before I tell you about the game, the main reason for this news article... The authors are in desperate need of an additional c coder to help with the game, without one there is a chance that the game will never actually see the light of day. They already have a working engine so the coder would be working on some other special stuff for the game. Anyone who thinks that they are in a position to help should email the project leader at:- marco.siegel@hal.regiocom.net

Now, onto the game.....A quick run-down of the story, you are an agent of an underground organisation and it is your main task to execure, protect, find and observe people. The game is somewhat similar to Syndicate. Imagine playing this game in 3D and you'll have a small idea of what this game will be like.

The game is based on an innovative science fiction story that develops throughout the game and is influenced by the players actions. The game will feature many cut scenes and puzzles and spoken dialogue. The game type as described as being a mixture between an adventure, a 3D shoot-em-up, a strategy wargame and a simulation. Quite a lot to pack into one game, i'm sure you'll agree.

The 3D engine that the game boasts is described as being 'revolutionary', it features such cool sounding stuff like Texture Filtering, Coloured Lights, MIP Mapping, Lambert Shading and Polygon enemies and weapons. Good news for new GFX card owners is that the game will support both Virge and Permedia 2 through Warp3D. It will also feature PowerPC optimisation.

The minimum specifications for the game are AGA/CGFX/P96, 16Mb memory, 68040(with FPU)/68060, Hard Drive and a CD-ROM. It will also take advantage of 3D accelerators, GFX cards, PowerPC, faster CD-ROM and more memory.

I'll hopefully have more news on what looks to be a very exciting project very soon.

Remember, if any C coders out there think they can help with the project email them at:- marco.siegel@hal.regiocom.net
