New Great Nations Demo Released. |
|
Great Nations, the multi-player Civilization type game currently in development is moving along nicely with the latest news being that a new demo has just been released.
It was quite a while ago that Great Nations was last featured on these pages and since that time it has been worked on a fair bit and it is beginning to look better all the time. The idea of the project is to take the Civilization concept and build upon it to create a more multi-player orientated game, something like the FreeCiv project that is available on a number of platforms. Like FreeCiv, Great Nations is too available on a number of different platforms, these being at the moment, Amiga, Windows & Linux.
As the game is based on Civilization as you would expect it contains a lot of the features that are found in this game, however, it also adds a number of unique features including realistic line of sight (ie, you can't see over mountains and you can see further when on a mountain square), no limit on world size, full game customisability, support for both AGA & GFX cards in a selectable resolutions, support for both 2D & 3D tilesets and much more.
If your wondering what has changed from the original 1.3 demo heres just a few
things:- diplomacy screen added, trading & relations implemented, improved chat
options, statistics screen added, improved graphics, many speed improvments,
ranged fire implemented and lots of other little things including mant
bug-fixes.
So, all thats left now is to tell you where you can get the demo from, well, its currently available from 2 different sites - the main Great Nations site and a mirror of it, both of these links can be found below:-
