The Future of Amiga Nutta and More Importantly the Amiga....

Two points to deal with here, one obviously vastly more important then the other in that one relies on the future of the other greatly and without it is completly pointless. I'm sure you'll understand which is which, however, the future of both is very much in doubt.

First of all, this webpage. Now, why in the past I have been devoted to the Amiga as much as the next person (Some people, especially recently may call this blind devotion, however, these are more often then not bitter people who have previously owned an Amiga and lack personal justification or just blantently recent doing that they did) there comes a point when even the most devoted person has to take a step back and look at things from a wider perspective. I enjoy using my Amiga, and see no reason why this will change in the future, however, I am beginning to wonder if the effort that this webpage takes is really worth it now.

In the past, it most certainly was, the page was read by lots of people and I believed that it actually meant something and provided a 'service' to the Amiga community. However, now, there are less and less people reading it, less and less news to report, and there are a massive number of 'news sites' (A term I use lightly as most depend on other 'news sites' for there articles/information) for the Amiga which are popping up all over the place which seem to have both more time and ore drive then myself to report whats going on. Now, don't get me wrong, i'm not having a go at these sites and it is probably more down the lack of motivation on my part that the future of Amiga Nutta is in doubt, however, REAL magazines (Read, sites that actually write articles on things that happen instead of mearly linking to a webpage or someones elses report, something that you will have found happening on Amiga Nutta recently for the one reason that it is a damn site quicker) such as Amiga Flame which has also recently became somewhat of a shadow of its former self are decreasing fast. Obviously, the lack of any real games news in the Amiga community contributes to this in a big way, maybe there just isn't a place for Amiga games pages anymore...

Anyway, to sum up. I really don't know how long Amiga Nutta will keep going for, maybe it will stop tomorrow, maybe next week, maybe even next year. However, my motivation is being drained constantly and I really can't seen Amiga Nutta continuing in the long term, its sad for more as its something that I have been doing and enjoying for the past 3 years, however, when something becomes more of a hinderance then something you enjoy maybe it is time to stop.

As for the future of the Amiga, well, this really does depend who you talk too. Some still seem to have massive enthusiasm that the Amiga will continue for a long time to come while others have little of this, unforunalty these sort of people are in the majority and the number of Amiga users is decreasing all of the time.

The future is in doubt now more then it has been for a very long time, in the past few years we have had something to look forward to with a parent company promicing this and that, now, that is gone. We have no more then a bunch of enthusiasts (Not meant in a bad way) who have a dream to prolong the life of the Amiga, if they succeed - great, if they don't then the Amiga could well be taking its last breaths.

I'm not going to dwell on the Amigas future too much as most of you know the situation that it is in, however, it has to be looked at the perspective of the only way it can get anywhere near what it once was is by attracting new users and the only way I personally can see this happening is by getting into the high street and with extensive advertising. Without a large backer, this isn't going to happen....
