Foundation Edge. |
|
As mentioned previously, Foundation's Edge is going to be the name of the new Foundation that will be released later this year, here are some further details of what you can expect to see in it.
Foundation's Edge will look and feel very differently to the first Foundation. Many subtle changes are planned to make the game easier to control and play. Some game objects will be removed in an attempt to remove unnecessary complexities for example: the Oil and Magic elements are to be removed and replaced by a global Magic Level. This will work in a similar way to Populous where magic is no longer a commodity that can be moved or traded. The design philosophy for Foundation's Edge is to keep a balance between resource management and battle strategy but to make it easier to maintain control over each area of the game.
I don't want to make any promises I can not keep so early on in the development stage. I must stress that a short development time schedule dictates that I will certainly have to take care with the new features I implement; This includes the TCP/IP mode. However the opportunity to develop a new Foundation means that financial support for future development will return and TCP/IP mode would be on the top of the list for the first Updates. The important matter is the game-play will be restructured to make the addition of TCP/IP more important. The original Foundation game structure was far too limiting for fun Networking modes. The addition of larger Maps and more players is a typical example of the move towards Networking support.
