Expansion - A New Strategy Game.

Expansion is a new real-time strategy game that is in development by RAMTronics Software. An early demo of the game which gives an insight to the basic stucture of the game is downloadable at the bottom of the page.

The game is said to be unlike any other strategy game available, it is not by any means another Command & Conquer clone. The only games that that it is similar to and draws inspiration from is classics like Civilization, Sim City & The Settlers.

The game is still in a very early stage of development and exact features are yet to be decided. The best way to get an idea of what the game is like and the way that it is going is to have a go of the demo.

One thing that is unusual for this type of game is that it is completly played in real-time, there is none of this turn based play which can be annoying at times. The game is played in 256 colours (64 for ECS owners) and can be played on any screen that supports this number of colours, a great plus for GFX card owners who will be able to make use of the higher screen modes they have access to.

There will be lots more in the game including AHI support, completly random map generator, fully multi-tasking and window based and much more. I had a quiclk play of the demo and was quite impressed. The game certainly has pontential.

To play the demo you will require at least Workbench 3.0, 2Mb Chip RAM, a couple of Meg of Fast RAM and 5Mb HD space.

The demo is being distributed in 3 different parts, you'll need all three to run the demo, to download them click on the links below:-
