Digital Images Conference Summary.
I have recently had comments that the logs of
the interview can be to long to read at times and it is difficult to
pick up on specific answers to questions. Because of this, I have
decided to write a short summary of the whole interview each week. Here is a
summary of the Digital Images interview which was held on Sunday.
- Starting off with the Wipeout 2097 deal, it has officially been signed and
sealed. Digital Images have been given the full PC sources of the game.
Digital Images refused to reveal the cost of licencing the game
- Wipeout will be PPC only, however, it will support AGA, this will mean
reducing the colours to 256 and so maybe reducing the graphics quality quite
badly.
- The game will feature things that were not found in the original PC game,
however, exactly what is being kept a secret at the moment.
- The game will apparantly support Permedia 2 and WarpOS. Wipeout will
hopefully also feature some kind of TCP/IP support.
- The other games that Digital Images are working on are Kijitsu Warriors (a
beat-em-up) Digital Soccer, A Syndicate type game and obviously Space Station
3000. Neither of the first two games will see the light until the end of 1999
though.
- Space Station 3000 is moving along nicely. Apparantly the graphics engine
behind the game has been massivly improved and the current screenshots are very
dated. The game will hopefully be released in about 4 months with a demo being
about 3 months away.
- Negotitations for Quake 2 haven't advanced that much, however, Digital
Images are considering moving in to ask for permission to port Formula 1
'97.
Go read the whole interview for more information, i'm sure there is stuff I have
forgot....:)
